Two large, green bins overflowed with Barbie’s took up the space under my bed at the age of 6. There were at least 200 in counting, all of which I readily dressed and styled every week. I refused to let anyone dress me, and took the same ethics towards my dolls. Their mile-long, smooth plastic legs and perfect slim figure was my eye of envy; I dreamed of having the perfect “Barbie-esque” figure.
Have i carried that ideal body image in my mind into present day? This i have pondered over and over and believe it to have an effect on how I view a woman's body. The ideals programmed into ones brain at a young age is crucial, and very difficult to uninstall.
